The all-inclusive resort is the hardest place for a travel advisor to prove value, the property already includes everything, so what exactly are clients paying you for? I found the answer on my own trips, and it's one word: privatization. We did everything the resort offered. Every single thing was just for our group.
“We did everything the retreat offered, but it was only private.”
How the play works
- Take the included activities and buy them out: the beachfront dinner becomes YOUR beachfront dinner; the catamaran sails with only your people; the tasting is hosted for your table alone.
- Layer private staff where it counts, a dedicated server at dinner, your own coordinator, so the group never queues for anything.
- The resort loves it: buyouts are easy revenue for them and easy magic for you. Most properties have a group-experience menu nobody asks about.

The eight-thousand-dollar test
Here's the pricing gut-check I use: if a client paid a premium over the public rate, would she feel the difference, or would she rightly conclude she should have just booked the resort herself? Privatization is what makes the answer obvious. Nobody can book the private version on Expedia; the property won't sell it to a party of two. Exclusivity at scale is the one product only a group host can deliver, which makes the all-inclusive, of all places, one of the easiest venues to justify your existence. Same resort, nobody else in the photo. That's the product.
Common Questions
What value can an advisor add at an all-inclusive resort?
Privatization. The same restaurants, beach, and activities become yours exclusively, which is the one product a party of two can never book themselves.
How do you price a group stay at an all-inclusive?
Against the honest test: would the client feel the difference, or conclude she should have booked the resort herself? Buyouts and private staffing answer that.
Do resorts allow private group experiences?
Most have a group experience menu that nobody asks about. Buyouts are easy revenue for them and easy differentiation for you.
