The most common funnel mistake I see advisors make: Instagram bio → website. It feels right — show them everything! — and it quietly loses almost everyone. A first-time visitor does not buy a $5,000-plus trip from a browsing session. They look, they dream, they leave, and you have no way to ever speak to them again.
Capture first, website second
- Route Instagram to a capture form — name, email, phone — before anything else. The follow-up sequence is what sells high-ticket, not the first visit.
- Give them a reason: a welcome credit toward a first trip is a powerful one. It costs you a margin sliver on a booking you otherwise wouldn't have.
- Then let the sequence do its patient work: story, proof, invitation — until they book a call. A booked call is the real conversion event; from there, my close rate is roughly one in two.
Your list is the business
Social platforms rent you the audience; your email list is the part you own. I've built mine to tens of thousands of subscribers, and it is — without exaggeration — the most valuable asset in my travel business. Every algorithm change, every platform wobble, the list remains. If your Instagram vanished tomorrow, what would you have left? Build the funnel so the answer is "everyone who ever clicked."
And once the capture flow exists, AI runs beautifully inside it — drafting the sequences, segmenting by which trip someone clicked, keeping the follow-up human-sounding at scale. That's the marketing layer of what we build inside Travel AI University.
